Beijing, China | 11 December 2025 — Mizztech Group and Sofax Fluorspar Kenya Ltd have officially entered the execution phase of Kenya’s fluorspar revival program with the signing of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract for the comprehensive refurbishment of the Kerio Valley Fluorspar Processing Plant in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
This contract builds on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 14 August 2025, which established a framework for long-term technical cooperation and strategic investment. Sofax Fluorspar Kenya Ltd operates the Kerio Valley Project under the Concession Agreement and Mining Licence ML/2025/0216 issued earlier this year.
Mizztech Group CEO Charles Cheng underscored the company’s focus on engineered efficiency and performance-driven outcomes:

Our priority is to restore the Kerio Valley plant to world-class operating standards and position Kenya as a competitive producer of Acidspar Grade Fluorspar—an essential input in the electrolyte manufacturing process for EV batteries. The EPC contract was signed by Mr. Charles Cheng, CEO, on behalf of Mizztech Group, with Eng. Arthur Mgongo, Regional Director of Mizztech East Africa, co-signing. Mr. John Masanda, CEO of Sofax Fluorspar Kenya Ltd, signed alongside David Orgut, Director of the company. The ceremony took place during the Kenya Chamber of Mines Gala Dinner 2025, hosted by Dr. Patrick Kanyoro, Chairman of the Kenya Chamber of Mines.
The refurbishment program will deliver full-system upgrades to the plant’s mechanical, electrical, and mineral processing lines. The modernization is engineered to increase recovery rates, stabilize output quality, and achieve higher operational uptime. Once completed, the upgraded facility will substantially enhance Kenya’s fluorspar export capabilities and strengthen its position in the global minerals supply chain.
Dr. Patrick Kanyoro noted the project’s importance for sector advancement:

With the signing of the EPC contract, the Kerio Valley Fluorspar Project now moves into active implementation—advancing both the mine revival program and the plant refurbishment activities.
